Why the blank matters
Your blank changes comfort, fit, durability, print quality, retail value, and how expensive the finished piece feels.
Ring-spun yarn is smoother and usually softer. Standard open-end cotton feels more traditional and can be excellent for durable value tees.
Light fabric runs cooler and drapes more. Heavy fabric feels structured, supports big prints, and reads more like streetwear.
CVC blends use more cotton than polyester, balancing softness, durability, and reduced shrinkage. Cotton offers a natural hand and classic print surface.
The finished shirt is dyed after sewing, creating washed color and natural variation. That variation is part of the vintage character.
Boxy tees are wider with controlled length and often dropped shoulders. Buying a classic tee larger usually makes it longer, not properly oversized.
GSM measures fabric mass per square meter. A higher number usually feels thicker, but knit, yarn, and finish also affect the hand.
