CAOS FAQ
Pricing and minimums
How much does custom screen printing cost?+
Pricing depends on the garment, quantity, number of print colors, artwork, print dimensions, locations, finishing, and schedule. A complete quote needs the real project details; CAOS Creates does not publish a guaranteed price before review.
What affects screen-printing prices?+
The biggest variables are blank cost, quantity, color separations and screens, underbase needs, print locations, specialty inks, print size, finishing, and delivery. Unit cost often improves as one setup is spread across more garments.
What is the minimum order?+
Minimums vary by decoration method and project setup. Screen printing generally becomes more efficient as quantity increases, while DTF may fit shorter or highly detailed runs. Send the garment, artwork, and quantity for confirmation.
CAOS FAQ
Turnaround and orders
How long does custom apparel production take?+
Timing depends on garment inventory, artwork approval, quantity, decoration locations, specialty work, finishing, and shipping. The production schedule is confirmed after the complete project is reviewed.
Do you offer rush printing?+
Rush feasibility has to be reviewed against current production capacity, blank availability, artwork readiness, and the requested method. Share the required date before ordering; a deadline is not guaranteed until CAOS Creates confirms it.
Can CAOS Creates ship nationwide?+
Yes. Customers can arrange local Chicago pickup or shipping within the United States. Include the destination and required date so transit can be considered in the project plan.
Can I reorder a previous project?+
Yes. Use the Reorder page and include the prior project ID when available. Garment availability, pricing, artwork version, and schedule are reconfirmed for the new run.
CAOS FAQ
Artwork
What artwork files do screen printers need?+
Vector AI, EPS, SVG, or a properly built PDF is preferred for logos and spot-color art. Raster files should be high resolution at the intended print size. Send the original source file rather than only a screenshot or mockup.
Do I need vector artwork?+
Not always. Vector art gives strong control for logos, type, scaling, and spot-color separation. Photographs and textured illustrations can remain raster when the file has enough real resolution at final size.
Can CAOS Creates clean up my artwork?+
Yes. Send the best source you have and explain the goal. The shop can review whether the file needs cleanup, vector rebuilding, color separation, simplification, or more substantial creative work before production.
What resolution should a print file be?+
A raster image is commonly evaluated around 300 pixels per inch at the final print dimensions. Changing only the DPI setting does not add missing detail, so the pixel dimensions and intended print size must be reviewed together.
CAOS FAQ
Printing and embroidery
What is screen printing?+
Screen printing pushes ink through a prepared mesh stencil onto the garment. Each printable color is controlled as its own layer, then the finished ink film is cured so it bonds correctly to the fabric.
Screen printing or DTF—which should I choose?+
Screen printing often fits repeatable runs, limited spot colors, strong opacity, and specialty inks. DTF can fit shorter orders and detailed many-color artwork. Quantity, garment, coverage, locations, and desired feel determine the better route.
Screen printing or embroidery—which is better?+
Screen printing is useful for graphic coverage on tees and hoodies. Embroidery creates a dimensional thread mark that works well for hats, polos, jackets, workwear, and compact logos. They solve different visual and garment needs.
What is embroidery digitizing?+
Digitizing rebuilds artwork as machine instructions for stitch type, direction, density, sequence, underlay, and compensation. It is a production process, not simply saving the logo in another file format.
Can you print sleeves or oversized graphics?+
Those requests can be reviewed. The exact garment construction, artwork, size range, printable area, and equipment limits determine the final dimensions and placement.
CAOS FAQ
Garments
Can CAOS Creates source shirts and hoodies?+
Yes. The shop can compare approved supplier options by fit, fabric, weight, color, size range, inventory, decoration compatibility, and budget.
What shirt is best for screen printing?+
The best shirt fits the wearer and the project. Consider fabric surface, weight, fit, color, size range, inventory, expected use, and how the print should feel—not only the brand name.
What hoodie is best for custom printing?+
Choose around fleece weight, surface smoothness, fit, pocket and zipper construction, size range, inventory, and the intended print or embroidery location. A heavyweight streetwear hoodie and a staff uniform hoodie solve different problems.
Can I provide my own garments?+
Customer-supplied garments require project-specific approval because fabric, coatings, construction, quantity, defects, replacement availability, and spoilage risk affect production. Ask before purchasing or delivering goods.
